1W - Crickets Class
Spring Term Learning 2022
The children have enjoyed learning all about animals around the world in our 'Meerkat and Friends' topic. They studied hot and cold climates and identified animals that live in each place. They also looked at the diets of various creatures and sorted them into herbivores, omnivores and carnivores.
In our maths lessons, children have learned about place value up to 50 and looked how numbers are made up of tens and ones. They have begun to learn how to count in 2s, 5s and 10s. They had lots of fun doing practical lessons learning how to measure length, mass and capacity. We have used our lovely new Chromebooks (computers) to practise our maths skills by using a variety of online games. We've also used them to combine text and graphics to illustrate a story.
Our PSHE has focused on how to be healthy and make safe choices. The children have thought about what they eat and how they exercise to stay fit. They told Jigsaw Jack all about crossing the road safely and rules about medicines.
Our other topic was 'People Who Help Us'. We learned all about vets, police officers, doctors, nurses and even a park keeper! Later some fire fighters came to visit us and told the children all about how to 'Stop, Drop and Roll'. In history, the children learned all about Florence Nightingale who was a nurse that helped injured soldiers.
The children have been working really hard to write fantastic sentences about their learning using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Some children have been adding adjectives to describe their ideas and have extended their sentences using the words and or because.
