Autumn 2
In design and technology lessons we will be making hand puppets!
We will be...
- Checking out different types of puppets.
- Having a go at using different types of stitches to join fabric together.
- Designing our own puppets
- Using different types of tools and equipment to measure, cut and join materials.
- Saying what we think is good about our hand puppets and what we could do to make them even better!
Spring 1
In design and technology this half term we will be learning to create different mechanisms in order to make a moving picture.
We will be:
- Investigating different types of mechanisms, such as: wheel mechanisms, slider mechanisms and lever and pivot mechanisms
- Having a go at using different types of stitches to join fabric together.
- Designing our own illustrations, that move, for a book about minibeasts!
- Using different types of tools and equipment to measure, cut and join materials.
- Saying what we think is good about our hand puppets and what we could do to make them even better!
Spring 2
In art this half term we will be learning about printing!
We will be:
- Using objects found in the classroom to create repeated patterns
- Learning about the different types of printing techniques
- Creating our own block prints and relief prints.
Summer 1
In design and technology this half term we will be designing and cooking pizzas!
We will be:
- Investigating what our favourite pizza toppings are
- Investigating which types of bread will be best to make a pizza with
- Thinking about what things to eat to make sure we have a balanced diet
- Designing our own healthy pizzas
- Learning to cut, peel and grate ingredients safely and hygienically
- Preparing and making our own pizzas that we have designed.
Summer 2
In art this half term we will be learning about collage!
We will be:
- Learning to create torn and cut paper collages in the style of Henri Matisse
- Creating mixed media collages
- Creating abstract and lifelike collages
- Exploring the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and creating collage portraits using fruit and vegetables
